Ryan Dempster's return from the disabled list was bittersweet. Dempster pitched eight innings and struck out six while not giving up a run. Then the Cubs turned the ball over to Carlos Marmol for the save opportunity. Marmol promptly allowed the Reds to tie in their half of the ninth by walking three of the five batters he faced. Scott Rolen won it for Cincinnati in the 10th inning with a sacrifice fly off of Rafael Dolis. (Dolis helped the cause with a wild throw to put runner Zack Cosart in scoring position.

Marmol has now blown three of his five save opportunities and has walked 12 batters in 8-2/3 innings. That'll help his trade value.
