Apparently, Patrick Kane Had A Memorable Weekend In Madison

Earlier this week, Deadspin posted photos of Blackhawks star Patrick Kane at the Mifflin Street Block Party in Madison, Wisc., well, being Patrick Kane. Deadspin followed up today with details of his lost weekend at the notorious festival. If what was alleged from these eyewitness accounts are true, then Kaner had bigger problems than drinking like a champion.

Deadspin's reconstruction of the events has Kane as being a "drunken shitshow" all weekend, which jibes with the photos. There are other allegations he was kicked out of Madison's Kollege Klub for being too drunk to stand and that he made anti-Semitic remarks and tried to choke out a woman at a frat party that needed police intervention after an altercation occurred. Kane avoided arrest; overall arrests at Mifflin Street were up this year despite a lower attendance.

That Kane likes to enjoy himself off the ice isn't surprising. Just take a look at all the photos of him chugging away during the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup parade; the flu incident during the 2010-11 season where nearly everyone assumed he was hung over; the altercation with a Buffalo cab driver, and the photos of him shirtless in a limo in Vancouver.

It's easy to defend Kane by saying he's 23 and this is the behavior that people his age sometimes do. But he's also one of two public faces of the Blackhawks and, coming off a subpar season, critics won't hesitate to use this latest incident to resume their calls to trade Kane. Now that he has a track record of drunken behavior, Blackhawks president John McDonough and GM Stan Bowman may just be entertaining that option as you read this.

Most important, it's up to Kane to realize that, try as he might, he isn't a typical 23-year-old and needs to act accordingly.
