Chicago Skyway Shutdown Caused By Thrown Rocks, Not Fired Guns

The Chicago Skyway was shut down last night over fears that someone was shooting a gun at cars, smashing out windows in at least seven cars. A manhunt ensued, and police confirmed that the damage was caused by rocks, not bullets.

The three-mile stretch of highway remained closed for about two hours while Chicago police worked with highway troopers. More than a dozen police cars were on the scene, and some officers were wearing SWAT uniforms. One driver told WGN-TV he was the sixth car pulled over by police after the sunroof of their car was smashed in. Authorities have confirmed seven damaged windshields.

Police found a pile of rocks, and they believe the rock throwers were on an on-ramp to I-90 at Indianapolis Blvd. and 105th St. Police found no ballistic evidence of guns being used.
