It wasn't the 13-inning slugfest these two teams had on Friday night. In fact, the only sluggers seem to have come from the Brewers who had 13 hits in nine innings. The Cubs only managed five and two runs. Chris Volstad (0-6) pitched six innings for the Cubbies and racked up six runs and nine hits in that time. He still hasn't won a game since last season. It was a tie game until Volstad gave up five runs in the sixth with Edwin Maysonet's first career grand slam. Maysonet started for injured Rickie Weeks. Starlin Castro drove in David DeJesus in the first inning giving the Cubs a short-lived lead, but the Brewers took advantage of Volstad's slump to give them the 8-2 victory Saturday.

Royals 5, White Sox 0

Luke Hochevar had given up 19 hits and 16 runs in 6 1/3 innings prior to starting against the Sox. Saturday he only gave up three hits in seven innings of work. Chris Sale (3-2) took the loss for the Sox and gave up seven hits and three runs in five innings of work. This is Sale's first outing since May 1 and he threw 42 pitches in the first inning following a 56 minute rain delay. He straightened up his pitching and settled in to a better four innings, but the Sox couldn't stop the bleeding with any offense. They had a chance early in the second with a walk and Alex Rios single, but Alexei Ramirez hit into a double play to end the scoring threat.
