The Illinois Senate voted yesterday to add miniature horses to the list of approved service animals for people with disabilities. State law currently requires businesses to allow "reasonable access and service" to people with service dogs. This bill amends language to say "dog or miniature horse." Federal laws already include miniature horses on its list of approved service animals.

The bill was approved by 40-11 and has been sent to the House for approval. The mini horses will be available for people with vision, hearing, seizure alert, psychiatric, autism or other disabilities.

As a onetime owner of a miniature horse, I think I should tell you that mini horses are just as awesome as you think they are. Maybe more awesome. Honestly, I struggle to imagine a unicorn could ever be cooler than a miniature horse.

And for fans of Parks and Recreation, here is your requisite Li'l Sebastian video. If you don't know what the big deal is, get out.
