2012_5_19_reeling.jpg Both the Chicago Phoenix and Windy City Times reported that Reeling: The Chicago Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, will go on a year-long hiatus while Chicago Filmmakers, the organization that produces the festival, plans a strategy to secure the festival's long-term future.

In a press release Chicago Filmmakers said the organization will "undertake such considerations as: a change in the time of year that the festival takes place; how the festival might expand or evolve to better address the changing needs of LGBT filmmakers; and what impact the conversion to digital cinema technology will have on our exhibition options.” Tabling Reeling for 2012 will also allow Chicago Filmmakers to raise funds so that they can hire a festival director, which would allow festival founder Brenda Webb to focus on her duties as CF's executive director.

Last year Reeling passed a milestone with its 30th anniversary festival.
