Chicago Ranks Sixth Among Most Ticketed Cities

Chicago is ranked sixth for having the most parking tickets, but that doesn't even include red light tickets, and researchers predict the addition of speeding camera tickets will have us ranked much higher next year.

The study by the National Motorists Association shows the top five cities are Atlanta, Los Angeles, Dallas-Fort Worth, Miami and New York City. The study used Google Insights for the popularity of search terms like "speeding ticket" and "traffic ticket," then sorted findings by geographic area.

The study "didn't specifically call out red light cameras and speed cameras," so that didn't really factor into the study... this time. The Expired Meter writes:

With the City of Chicago getting ready to roll out what looks to be a very aggressive network of speed cameras across the city, [NMA spokesperson John] Bowman believes it will have an impact on their survey.

“I would anticipate with a much higher volume of tickets being generated it will have an affect,” said Bowman when asked about the city’s speed cam program. “It wouldn’t surprise me that speed am tickets would have an impact (on Chicago’s rankings.)”
