June 19 is National Martini Day and to celebrate The Red Canary is offering half-priced martinis from 5 p.m. until midnight. The Red Canary has an inventive cocktail menu, in addition to the standard martini, and guests may sample from eight different "martinis" like the "Pancho Villa" (Casa Noble reposado tequila, Cointreau, lime, cucumbers, cilantro, egg white), "The Hemingway" (Appleton White rum, fresh lime, brandied cherry syrup, dehydrated lime chip) and "The Top Hat" (Hendrick’s Gin, Sterling Sauvignon Blanc, muddled and strained ginger and cilantro, fresh lime, simple syrup).

Melissa Wiley will have more on the Red Canary later this afternoon.

If you have an event for inclusion in "Pencil This In," please contact Tankboy (for A&E-related listings), Anthony (for tastings, dinners and food and drink-related events) or tips[at]chicagoist[dot]com.
