Grill Your Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich

By Molly Durham in Food on Jun 21, 2012 4:00PM

There is no single simpler way to improve on the classic pb&j than this. For any pb&j lover (or any sandwich lover for that matter) there is a huge difference between the cold and the hot variety. Some love the melty spread on a grilled one, and some like to keep it simple and avoid the crunch. Regardless, there's something about grilling this old standby that makes it feel a little less like your mom packed it for you in your lunch.

Grilled peanut butter & jelly sandwich

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp peanut butter
2 Tbsp jelly or preservers
2 slices of any kind of bread (we used thick whole wheat Italian loaf)

Directions:

Put about half a tablespoon of butter in a medium pan over medium heat, swirl around to coat, place sandwich onto pan once heated up, and cook on each side for about 3-4 minutes.

And there ya go, your pb&j no longer seems fit just for children.

Our other suggestions for grilled sandwiches: peanut butter and Nutella, peanut butter and Sriracha (trust us), fluffernutters.
