Last Minute Plans: Three Art Events Today

Deborah Stratman, Tunnel
• Deborah Stratman's The Name is not the Thing named opens tonight from 6-9 p.m. at Iceberg Projects. Stratman, who teaches at the University of Illinois at Chicago, has created "a video passage through places that are both themselves, and stand-ins for others."

• ACRE Projects closes its season with a block party from 2-8 p.m. at 1913 W 17th St. They're promising free stuff and cheap drinks along with a craft sale and activities for kids. At 8:30, the party moves to Landscrape at 1850 S. Blue Island at 8:30pm for the ACRE Music Showcase, which features DJs and art on view.

FM* Gallery closes Cesar Conde's solo exhibition and hosts a Bayanihan fund raising benefit tonight from 6:30-10:30 p.m. The event will includes Filipino food, drinks, live music, poetry, and original artwork raffles. Gallery sales will benefit Bayanihan Foundation Worldwide, which is planting 10,000 mangrove trees in the Philippines this year. Conde, who is Filipino-American, has created large scale paintings of people he has met and photographed while traveling the world.
