Where Are You Most Likely To Be Robbed On The CTA?

An analysis of CTA-related crimes shows the Red Line has the highest number of incidents, with the Roosevelt Red-Green-Orange station as the top station for crime. The Tribune's study examined data for crimes on the CTA between 2009 and June 13, 2012 — data the Chicago Police Department had refused to release, saying it's a "sensitive issue."

The report shows crimes are highly concentrated downtown, and "crime patterns on the CTA closely mirror Chicago's demographics, in terms of population density and income disparities."

The Tribune writes:

In addition to the Red Line, which operates around the clock between some of Chicago's most affluent neighborhoods as well as through some of its poorest, crimes committed against rail passengers were also pervasive on the Green Line, which goes through the West Side, and the Forest Park branch of the Blue Line, which also travels east-west, the analysis found.

By comparison, CTA-related crime is remarkably lighter on the Brown Line, the Blue Line's O'Hare branch, the Orange Line to Midway Airport and the Pink Line through the Pilsen, Little Village and North Lawndale neighborhoods, the crime statistics show.

Check out the Tribune's map to see where your station ranks. Here are the top five crime spots, not that you should necessarily avoid them. Crime doesn't really stay in certain parts of a map.

1. Roosevelt Red-Orange-Green Lines
2. 95th/Dan Ryan Red Line
3. 69th Red Line
4. 79th Red Line
5. Pulaski Green Line
