First Look: Maison Brasserie

By Anthony Todd in Food on Jun 29, 2012 6:00PM

We are in love with good French brasseries, and we're bitterly envious of those who live in France where they are as easy to find as a Starbucks is here. Luckily for downtown denizens, there is a new, high-quality option right across from Millennium Park. Maison, which opened last month, should help stave off your cravings for pate and duck confit until your next visit to Paris.

The menu includes all of your French favorites - check out the photos in the gallery. Even though it sounds a bit adventurous, the don't-miss dish on our visit was the homemade pasta with braised rabbit, mushrooms and pearl onions for $18. The prices may be the biggest surprise at Maison, especially given the location and the lush dining room; entrees start at $12, and there are eight choices under $20. Many of Maison's wines are a particularly good deal, with half-liters going for as little as $15. Check out the full dinner menu below.

The new restaurant is a little bit hard to find - your best bet is to start from Randolph street and then head in to the north. Maison is a stand-alone 1-story building amongst the high rises. Go in any entrance you can find.

Maison Brasserie is located at 330 E. Randolph Street.
