Pencil This In: Bookstore Bike Crawl And Art Show

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Jul 12, 2012 4:20PM

2012_7_12_PTI.jpg Chicagoist readers know we love our bicycles. We also love to bury our nose into a good old fashioned dead tree book once in a while. Why not spend your Sunday biking to bookstores across the city as part of a bookstore bike crawl? It all starts 1 p.m. July 15 at Heritage Bicycles (2959 N. Lincoln Ave.). From there the peloton will roll to Powell's North (2850 N. Lincoln Ave.), Bookworks (3444 N. Clark St.), Unabridged (3251 N. Broadway Ave.), Quimby's (1852 W. North Ave.), and Open Books (213 W. Institute Pl.). The crawl will end at Powell's University Village (1218 S. Halsted St.) with the opening reception of the Bike Crawl Art Show at 7 p.m. The show is curated by Kyra Termini and will feature local artists Kyle Baker, Todd Irwin, Deborah Maris-Lader, Jay Ryan, Maria Sanchez, Shawn Stuckey, Michael Una and Julia Victor.
