Metrospective Looks Back At Three Decades Of Metro Art
By Michelle Meywes Kopeny in Arts & Entertainment on Jul 13, 2012 7:20PM
Many of us have spent years going to shows at Metro, but some have known the space for decades. Three of them to be exact. As the venue celebrates their 30th Anniversary this year, Metrospective takes a look back at the years through a free pop-up art exhibit at the Inland Steel Building beginning today. The exhibit, which is part of the Chicago Loop Alliance’s Pop-Up Art Loop, features posters, photos and other art from their archives, many of them never seen before. If you “like” Metro on facebook, you may have already gotten a peek.
On some select dates—including today—there will be interactive events including DJs and panels with local photographers and designers. Today’s DJ set is from Brad Owen (former Smartbar music director) and Steve Reidell (former Metro/Smartbar Art Director). Check out the rest of the schedule below.
The Inland Steel Building is located at 77 S. Dearborn. Metrospective is open Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and runs through August 3.
