Tuesday Night Dinner Pops Up In Hyde Park

By Amy Cavanaugh in Food on Jul 22, 2012 4:00PM

In late June I attended Tuesday Night Dinner, the pop-up supper club that brings together a great bunch of people for a casual meal. The iteration I went to was in the backyard of Bang Bang Pie Shop, and featured a lowland boil with crabs, clams, potatoes, and corn; potato salad and slaw made from ingredients chef Jeremy Leven picked up at Green City Market; and a fabulous strawberry shortcake made with Bang Bang's biscuits. There were also beer and cocktails, but the best part was the laid-back atmosphere—most people came with friends, but everyone seemed to make new ones and connect over a shared love of food.

The next dinner is July 31 at the Southside art collective SHoP in Hyde Park. The space is an antique mansion, so it should provide a great backdrop for Leven's four-course small plate meal. The tentative menu includes comfort food dishes like green bean casserole, chicken wings, meat loaf and mashed potatoes, and cherry pie. Tickets are $20 and available here. These dinners sell out fast, so get tickets now.
