On December 31, 2004 venerable indie rock lo-fi power poppers garage classic rockers Guided By Voices played their final show at The Metro. Their final, FINAL show. Well, their final show until Bob Pollard changed his mind and decided to get the band back together and start recording music at a ridiculously quick pace again.

So it's fitting that the band should play Metro to celebrate their 30th anniversary with a show on August 11. The last time they were there the show lasted over four hours and had a 63 song set-list. Tickets are on-sale now, so get them while they're still there. And start placing bets on the over-under on the number of liters of tequila and beer Pollard will drink onstage.

This is Chicago's last chance to catch the band before they call it quits (again) with another final final FINAL show at the Hopscotch music festival in September. In an even more ironic twist, the band's set at Hopscotch LAST year was supposed to be their last appearance again by the "classic" line-up but from what we can tell that's the line-up that's still touring.

Hey, you just can't quit a good thing.
