Mayor Daley’s music makes us want to pack a bug-out bag. The trio’s drudgy noise punk stirs up a feeling of apocalyptic doom, like a mass of dark clouds will roll over the city and marauding thieves will kick your door down and steal all your canned goods.

Earlier this month, the band released a new LP, Sand Bath, on local label Rotted Tooth. The whole thing’s only four tracks, but they’re lengthy, menacing progressive rock compositions. First track “15 Silver Arrows” opens with a simple, brisk drum beat then slowly intensifies with sludgy guitar riffs, ritualistic howls, and horror-movie synth. Listen for yourself: all four tracks are available to stream through Bandcamp.

To ring in the new album, Mayor Daley will be performing their new material tonight at Humboldt Park gallery Reversible Eye. The show will also feature two supporting acts from Minneapolis: arm-flailing raucous-raisers Skoal Kodiak and sludge rockers Myrrh. In the meantime, watch this video of Mayor Daley’s “15 Silver Arrows”:

Mayor Daley plays tonight at Reversible Eye, 1103 N. California, 9 p.m.
