Directors Tom Tykwer and The Wachowskis released a lengthy trailer for their upcoming movie Cloud Atlas and an accompanying video explaining why they decided to work on the project together. The director’s commentary is the more notable of the two videos for us because it marks the public debut of Lana (formerly Larry) Wachowski.

Lana Wachowski began gender transition in the early 2000s, though neither she nor brother Andy publicly spoke about it. According to Rotten Tomatoes (which still lists her biography as Larry, by the way), she completed the process following filming Speed Racer in 2008.

Take a look at how happy she looks in this video—everyone be this comfortable in his or her skin! The Wachowskis grew up in the Beverly neighborhood on Chicago’s South side and built Kinowerks, a pre- and post-production film facility in Ravenswood, four years ago.
