We can just imagine the scene; tattooed hipsters, heavy metal rock music, huge overloaded burgers and, right outside the door, Dippin Dots! Or perhaps Wet Seal. Anyway, that's the first thing that came to mind when we saw a picture that the Redeye posted on Friday that indicated that legendary burger joint Kuma's Corner was coming to, of all places, Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg.

The mall listed Kuma's Corner in their directory with an asterisk indicating that it was "coming soon." Redeye's Lisa Arnett contacted Kuma's to find out the real scoop.

Friday afternoon, Kuma's manager Falcor Miller told RedEye he had "no idea" why Kuma's Corner is listed on Woodfield's directory. "We're not going to Woodfield Mall, that's for sure."

They also dispelled the rumor on Facebook: ("No, we aren't opening a Kuma's at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg") and on Twitter ("Let me dispel some rumors here. We are not opening a Kuma's Corner in Woodfield Mall. The end").

So where the heck did Woodfield get this idea? It's not clear, and they didn't respond to a request for comment from the RedEye. Wishful thinking? Maybe, but that's an ambitious reason to print a new sign. Looks like we'll still have to truck it out to Kuma's and wait in line, rather than picking up our burger alongside the Panda Express.

Update: One of our tweeps suggested that it might be a new outpost of Kuma's Asian Bistro in Naperville. That would make a heck of a lot more sense - but apparently Woodfield still hasn't weighed in. Just like us city folk to assume it was the super-famous, nationally renowned Kuma's instead of the suburban bistro.
