Farming

Growing Home is hosting an open house at its Wood Street and Honore Street urban farms in Englewood Saturday from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. The entire day is full of farm tours, a farm stand until the produce is gone, a seminar on seed saving and free refreshments and drinks. (5814 S. Wood St.)

Music

The secret weapon behind Gary Nunez's salsa orchestra Plena Libre, besides pulsing rhythms and a ringing horn section, is its complement of vocalists. Where most salsa bands employ two vocalists, Nunez enlists five singers in his band allowing for a wider range in harmonies and interplay. Nunez brings Plena Libre to Mayne Stage for an 18+ show 7 p.m. Saturday. The Chicago Afro Puerto Rican Ensemble opens. (1328 W. Morse Ave. Purchase tickets here.)
