Spit in the wind in any direction in Chicago and there's a chance that you'll find a hot dog. That's according to Food Genius, which mapped out every restaurant with a hot dog menu in the Chicago area and found that the average Chicagoan has to travel no more than 1.5 miles to find a hot dog.

Hog Butcher of the World, indeed.

Food Genius used Census Tract data to map out each centroid to the five nearest restaurants that serve hot dogs. The greener areas of this map indicate an area where it's easier to find a hot dog on a restaurant menu.

We knew Chicago loved hot dogs before this latest round of empirical evidence, but how does Chicago compare to other cities. Prepare to have your ego deflated, Windy City. According to Food Genius's database of restaurant data, Chicago isn't even in the top 25. The top honor goes to Cincinnati, which has a hot dog on 7.27 percent of its restaurant menus. Chicago has a hot dog on 1.2 percent of its restaurant menus.
