Jimmy Chamberlin Reminds Us Why He Was The Smashing Pumpkins' Secret Weapon

Oceania is an amazing return to form for The Smashing Pumpkins but for older fans of the band it also reminds us of the former glory Billy Corgan forged with James Iha, D’arcy Wretzky and Jimmy Chamberlin. Mercurial a talent as Corgan is, it was the drumming of Chamberlin that provided the Pumpkins Mach I with its power and balls.

Chicago Music Exchange recently hosted a drum clinic with Chamberlin where he told old war stories, played some old and new songs and explained his approach to drumming. These clinics tend to veer toward masturbatory exercises more often than not but Chamberlin does a good job here keeping it simple. Watch.
