Escape To Majestic Burlington With Soft Speaker

Chicago's Soft Speaker has done an excellent job of subtly tweaking expectations and growing in unexpected directions over the course of their career. They started off as a straight-ahead rock combo and have gradually turned into something a little grander, a little proggier and at times even a little dancier. Their live shows are always excellent affairs even if we admit we're not always certain which version of the band we're going to get. At The Empty Bottle they once had a room full of people shimmying and shaking at their sound when a few months before they just captivated the house at Double Door with an epic, twirling swirl of noise.

Recently the band released a concert film captured at Beat Kitchen at the end of last year titled Escape to Majestic Vortrobos and we think it does a nice job of showcasing the breadth of the band's approach while certainly tending more towards the psychedelic pop tendencies within their music. You can have a chance to see what the band is up to now when they play The Burlington this Saturday, September 29 but until then you can see the whole Escape to Majestic Vortrobos set below.
