Empty Bottle’s First Block Party: Music, Friendly, Food Trucks

2012_10_11_EmptyBottle.jpg It may be autumn outside and past block party weather, but the Empty Bottle doesn’t care. The Ukrainian Village venue is throwing its first ever block party, Music, Friendly, Food Trucks, later this month.

The inaugural block party goes down Sunday, October 21 on Cortez Street, just outside of the Bottle. Live music and beer will of course be present. The lineup includes four local bands along the folkrock and country vein: The Shams Band, Quarter Mile Thunder, My Blue Valentine, and Jenny Dragon. Revolution Brewing is both the provider of beer and the event sponsor, and there will also for some reason be non-alcoholic beer beverages available.

And as the title suggests, the event will also feature an array of Chicago food trucks: Duck N Roll Truck, the Brown Bag Lunch Truck, and 5411 Empanadas. Chicagoist favorite Bridgeport Pasty will also make the trek northward for this block party. Pasties are like hand-held pot pies—flaky crust and hot, savory filling—something to warm the body during the expectedly chilly October afternoon.

Entry to the block party is only $5, but you can upgrade to a $15 ticket that gives you entry to the Bottle’s after show, which will present indie rockers Shearwater, folk songwriter Judson Claiborne, and baritone balladmaker Daniel Knox.

Music, Friendly, Food Trucks is Sunday, Oct 21 at Cortez and Western outside of the Empty Bottle, 11 am-5 pm, $5 donation or $15 for block party+after show tickets
