Celebrate Halloween With Pumpkin Carving, Special Beers And More

By Anthony Todd in Food on Oct 26, 2012 5:20PM

Halloween is almost here and that means pumpkin carving, bobbing for apples and special dinners and parties galore. Check out some of our favorite events for this weekend and next week, and get your halloween on!

Quartino is hosting their 4th annual pumpkin carving contest on Sunday, October 28th. Grab a pumpkin (it's free; first come, first served) and some complimentary caramel apples and candy corn. Yup, the whole thing is free, including stencils, tools and safety gloves. How can it get any better than that?

DMK Burger Bar is offering a special burger: "The Bloody Burger," made with steak tartare, a fried egg and garlic aioli. Gimicks aside, it actually sounds pretty darn good. It costs $12, and will be available up till Halloween itself.

Ada Street will be showing the classic "Halloween" on, well, Halloween. If you come in costume, you get 50% off your cocktails - and popcorn and candy snacks will be available for $5. The fun kicks off at 10 p.m.

On October 31st, Prasino is hosting a "Trick-or-Treat Family Dinner" starting at 6 p.m. Put down the candy bags and pick up special dishes for adults and kids, including macaroni and cheese and a day-of-the-dead themed cocktail served with candy corn. There will also be pumpkin painting.

Celebrate Halloween with beer! Smallbar Division has redone their draft selection especially for the day, featuring 5 pumpkin-themed beers. The beers include: Timmermans Pumpkin Lambic, Southern Tier Pumking, Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin, Jolly Pumpkin La Parcela and Great Lakes Nosferatu. If you want to try all of the different pumpkin beers at once, this is your chance.

One last thing - remember, the Green City Market Halloween Harvest Ball is still selling tickets!

Happy Halloween!
