Sequin-clad nuns, a night behind the cab driver’s wheel and a sampling of the Chicago Opera Theater are the highlights of the upcoming week on stage.

Sister Act

You know the movie. Now see the stage version — the highlight of which is seeing veteran Chicago actress Hollis Resnick play the disapproving Mother Superior, the head nun at the church where stage diva Deloris is hiding out after witnessing a murder. The show runs Tuesday, November 13 through Sunday, December 2. Showtimes are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Congress Pkwy.,312-977-1710 or online.

Hellcab

Spend some time alongside a Chicago cab driver who transports an odd array of customers over the midnight shift. You may never look at your cabbie the same way again. The show runs Friday, November 9 through Sunday, December 23. Showtimes are Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m.

Profiles Theatre, The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway, 773-549-1815 or online.

Deep Into the Darkness Peering…

A one-night-only event hosted by the Chicago Opera Theater and the LifeLine Theater... need we say more? Come to hear selections from the upcoming The Fall of the House of Usher and various readings from Edgar Allan Poe classics. Sunday, November 11, 8 p.m.

Uncommon Ground, 3800 N. Clark St., 773-929-3680 or at the door.
