Video: A Day In The Life Of The CTA

By Samantha Abernethy in Arts & Entertainment on Nov 26, 2012 8:00PM

This video tracks Chicago public transit activity using publicly available GPS data. Watch it a couple of times to really absorb the information, focusing on different parts of the city. We focused our attention on the little dot running out onto Lake Michigan, which we assume was the Grand bus to Navy Pier. Also note the difference in frequency in some parts of the city. This video was made from 4 a.m. Nov. 1 to 4 a.m. Nov. 2. Note the time in the upper left corner. STLTransit has similar videos for transit systems in cities around the world. Who knew Auckland's transit system was so hypnotizing?
