There wasn't as much Black Friday or Shop Local Saturday bustle in Chicago bookstores as we had hoped over Thanksgiving weekend, but fret not! Come Dec. 9, tons of our favorite Chicago publishers and a few bookstores will be crammed into one location. The Empty Bottle will house the Pop-Up Book Fair hosted by Curbside Splendor, Chicago Writers House, and The Chicagoan.

There will be music, there will be a cash bar, but most importantly there will be more than 20 booksellers stocking their respective tables with Chicago-written goods. Some of our favorite participating publishers include Anobium Literary Magazine, 826chi, and the CCLaP. The full list of the other attending parties thus far is vast, but includes: 7 Vientos, Allium Press, Another Chicago Magazine, Anything Goes Publishing, Burial Day Books, Convulsive Editions, Graze Magazine, The Handshake, Kenning Editions, OV Books, and Switchback Books. Quimby's Bookstore will also be accounted for with their loot of Chicago-authored books and zines. The music will be provided by Good Evening, Mr. Mayor and the Highballers, and Wooden Wing.

Come shop your little book worm hearts out—locally, and just in time for the Holidays.

December 9, The Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., 2-7 p.m., FREE with RSVP or $5 at the door.
