Lincoln Hall doesn’t shy away from the fact that they reside in the old 3-Penny Cinema space, they embrace it with regular movie showings in honor of the old movie picture house. The monthly 3-Penny Was Here series has shown double feature pairings such as High Fidelity & Empire Records and Reservoir Dogs & Pulp Fiction on their 220 foot music room screen. Next month though, they’ve got an extra showing with the Chicago premiere of the Emmett Malloy film Big Easy Express. The film follows Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine show as they share a train bound for New Orleans from San Francisco for a special cross country tour. Tickets are $5.

The regular, free December 3-Penny night will be December 20, and is of course holiday themed with the lesser-thought-of Christmas classics Die Hard vs. Gremlins. Local comedians Joe McAdam, The Puterbaugh Sisters, Matt Drufke and Joe Fernandez will provide uproarious in between commentary. RSVP for the event on DO312. In January, shake the post-holiday blues on the 9th with their 4th annual showing of Big Lebowski vs. High Fidelity. Obviously White Russians will be on special for 5 bucks. You can RSVP for this one, also free, on Facebook.
