Four Shot During Show At Ultra Lounge In Logan Square [UPDATE]

Four people were shot during a show at Ultra Lounge in Logan Square early Wednesday morning during what the manager said was "a private party featuring hip-hop performers."

Police say four men ages 24, 26, 29 and 33 suffered non-life-threatening injuries around 12:30 a.m. A manager told the Sun-Times that Ultra Lounge had hired extra security guards for the party. He described the atmosphere as busy, but relaxed. The Sun-Times writes:

“It’s really disappointing because we’ve worked very hard to change this bar and offer continuity with what is in the neighborhood,” the manager said. “The energy was positive … There was nothing that indicated this would happen.”

Police have made no arrests.

UPDATE: (9:40 a.m.) According to DNAinfo.com, this was the third time in a week that gunfire broke out at one of DJ Jay Thompson's, 24, aka DJ JT Da Don, shows. The other incidents were "at a house party and barber shop parties on the West Side." He told DNAinfo.com, "After last night, I need to change my career path," and described the melee in the club:

"When you bring out talent from all over the city, you bring out crowds from all over the city and you bring out enemies from all over the city," Thompson said.

Thompson was DJing in the main room of the club when he saw some men who had a "territorial kind of stance," he said.

"I had a feeling something was going to go down," Thompson said.

He moved to another room and said he immediately heard eight to 10 shots ring out.
"Everyone hit the floor," except for apparently Thompson. He said he knew the shooter wasn't gunning for him. "They weren't coming in my direction, so I didn't duck," Thompson said.
