A young man has been charged in the stabbing of another man in a Wrigleyville sports bar Gregg Greaves, 23, of the 4700 block of North Beacon Street, was charged with a felony count of aggravated battery.

Greaves is believed to have jumped out of a bathroom stall at Red Ivy sports bar (3525 N. Clark St.) around 12:30 a.m. Sunday with a broken bottle and stabbed the victim in the neck. The victim also suffered wounds to his chin and hands from pushing Greaves away.

DNAInfo Chicago spoke with a Red Ivy security guard who theorized Greaves may have been “under the influence of more than alcohol.” Greaves is also alleged to have refused to put on pants, cursed out police and defecated into his hands and flung his feces onto the floor at the police station; those allegations have not been confirmed.

Update 5:40 p.m.: DNAInfo Chicago has been owned this story since it broke Saturday. DNAInfo's Serena Dai spoke with Greaves' girlfriend, who said this was out of character for him. Ashley Leising said Greaves wasn't violent and also said he must have been drugged to have done what he did.
