Five Bears Chosen For Pro Bowl

By Samantha Abernethy in News on Dec 27, 2012 3:00PM

2012_12_27_bears.jpg Five Chicago Bears made the cut for the 2012 Pro Bowl: Defensive end Julius Peppers, wide receiver Brandon Marshall, cornerback Charles Tillman, cornerback Tim Jennings and defensive tackle Henry Melton.

The choice of Melton is something of an upset, as linebacker Lance Briggs, leading the team with 118 tackles, didn't make the cut after being selected for seven consecutive Pro Bowls. This is Melton's first Pro Bowl appearance.

Marshall is the Bears' sole offensive representative, and it's the receiver's fourth Pro Bowl appearance. Last year, he was the MVP of the Pro Bowl while representing the Miami Dolphins.

This makes five Pro Bowl picks in a row for Peppers, and it is his eighth Pro Bowl choice. This is Tillman's second consecutive Pro Bowl appearance.
