Stephanie Izard's Little Goat Opens (For Real) This Friday

2012_12_11_LittleGoat.png Two weeks ago, Little Goat sorta kinda opened. By sorta kinda, we mean the front part of the restaurant (the deli and bakery, called Little Goat Bread) opened but the restaurant wasn't done yet. This Friday, Dec. 28, the whole restaurant opens its doors.

The concept of Little Goat? The diners that Stephanie Izard ate at as a kid, taken to another level.

"Growing up on the East Coast, I ate at diners all the time. I’ve always wanted to recreate that classic feel but bring my passion for working with local, fresh ingredients to the diner world. I also wanted to create a spot in the West Loop neighborhood, where at all times of the day, you could grab delicious food whether you were on the go, or wanted a comfortable place to sit with family or friends.”

The decor is modern 50s-style diner, the food is hearty (think Fat Elvis waffles with bananas, peanut butter and maple-bacon syrup) and it's sure to be packed. It'll be open all day long, and the complex includes the already-open bakery and Little Goat Bar, a full bar that will serve the restaurant.

The full menu isn't out yet, but the menu for Little Goat Bread is available online.

Little Goat is located at 820 W. Randolph St.
