Hyde Park's New (Old) Movie Theater Opens Friday

By Rob Christopher in Arts & Entertainment on Jan 16, 2013 10:20PM

The newly swankified Harper Theater, which had been dormant since 2002, re-opens for business just in time for the weekend. And for Oscar viewing preparations, since every movie in their initial lineup is up for multiple Academy Awards:

Les Misérables
Lincoln
Silver Linings Playbook
Zero Dark Thirty

Located at 5238 S. Harper Avenue, the Harper boasts a café & coffee shop (with Metropolis Coffee). Ticket prices are reasonable too: $8 for adults, $7 for students, and $6 for seniors, children & matinee screenings. We can only imagine that the Harper's reemergence will serve as a compliment to the programming at our beloved Doc Films. Long live movie theaters in all their forms!
