Dramatic Photos Of Chicago Abandoned Warehouse Fire Capture Firefighters Battling Blaze, Frozen Post-Fire Building

On Tuesday night, 200 Chicago firefighters were called to fight a fire in an abandoned warehouse fire in the Bridgeport neighborhood on the city's South side. Fire Department officials said the 5-11 alarm fire was the largest in Chicago since 2004. Smoke from the blaze was swept across Lake Michigan by brisk Northwest winds and could be seen from the landing fields at Midway Airport.

The recent frigid temperatures made fighting the fire problematic as hose water froze as firefighters tried to put the fire out. Once the fire was under control, the Harris Marcus Group building at 3757 S. Ashland Avenue resembled an igloo.

Here are photos from the fire taken from Chicago Fire Department's Media Relations Department, Getty Images and the Chicagoist Photos Flickr pool that show firefighters battling the blaze, the post-fire building and how far away the fire could be seen.
