Miami rapper Rick Ross was involved in a car crash in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Monday while fleeing a drive by shooter. There were reports of "dozens" of shots fired at Ross—real name William L. Roberts—who was out celebrating his birthday. A woman identified as 28-year-old Shateria L. Moragne-el was also in the car with the rapper known as "The Teflon Don." Ross crashed his car into an apartment building trying to avoid the shooter. Neither Ross nor Moragne-el were injured.

The shooting comes nearly two months after members of the Gangster Disciples, um, expressed their displeasure with Ross for name-checking the notorious street gang's imprisoned leader Larry Hoover in his song "B.M.F." and using the Star of David (the gang's major symbol) on his mixtape, The Black Bar Mitzvah.

Ross canceled a concert appearance in Charlotte, North Carolina after the initial rounds of Gangster Disciple threats, but said the two were unrelated. at the time, Ross said something that stands out today.

This is something everybody needs to understand—gangstas move in silence.

Damn right they do. So do people in cars who unload dozens of bullets in a drive by. We aren't saying the two are connected, but it is one hell of a coincidence.
