Chicago Mixtape will celebrate its two-year anniversary with a fundraiser at the Empty Bottle (1035 North Western Avenue) on February 23. Hosted by Chicago Mixtape founder Casey Meehan and Alison Cuddy of WBEZ, the event will feature Chicago bands Psalm One, The Congregation, Santah, and Animal City as well as a DJ set by White Mystery and analog video art by brownshoesonly. There will be a hosted bar from 8 p.m. - 9 p.m. by Harmonica Dunn, Do312, and Old Style.

Developed to connect local music fans to progressive Chicago artists, Chicago Mixtape sends subscribers a weekly email highlighting music being performed in Chicago that week. Keeping the art of the mixtape alive, Meehan filters the hundreds of tracks he listens to each week down to a free compilation of high quality MP3s. In just two years, Chicago Mixtape has not only helped local listeners discover art rock and punk rock artists playing nearby, but has connected fans around the world to Chicago musicians.
