Implodes Have 'Recurring Dream' On Upcoming Second Album [UPDATE]

Chicago shoegazer quartet Implodes recently announced their second album, titled Recurring Dream, an apt title for a band whose sound relies on hazy, oft-repeating and psychedelic soundscapes. The 11-track Dream follows 2011's Black Earth, and sees release on April 2nd. The haunted house-themed cover art is above.

The band will celebrate the release of Dream with a show at the Empty Bottle on April 8th. Population will open. In the meantime, stream first single "Scattered In The Wind" below. What's most impressive about Dream is how the band adds muscle and rhythmic dexterity to its sound without sacrificing any of the dense sonic wizardry that made Black Earth such a compelling headphones listen. The band's ace in the hole is bassist Emily Elhaj, whose subtle, melodic playing gives Implodes's music more heft. Recurring Dream is out on April 2nd on Kranky Records.
