Elaine Cook, 51, is accused of biting off a piece of a man's tongue during a domestic dispute.
Prosecutors say a Skokie woman bit off a chunk of her boyfriend's tongue during an argument on Valentine's Day.

The boyfriend said he tried to kiss her and end the argument, when Elaine Cook, 51, bit off most of the right side of his tongue.

He put the tongue on ice immediately and called 911. Paramedics got him to the hospital quickly, but doctors were unable to reattach the tongue due to "inadequate blood supply."

The Tribune writes::

When reached by phone, the man said he has been visiting the doctor every day, has several sutures in his mouth and has trouble sleeping at night. Most of the right side of his tongue is missing, he added.

"It makes me sick to my stomach that she's sitting in jail right now, but it's just out of my hands," said the man, who asked not to be identified. "I have to focus on getting better now."

Cook faces felony domestic battery charges.
