New details on a January double murder in Joliet add a disturbing twist to the strangling deaths of two men. Police say two of the four suspects have confessed to having sex on top of the corpses.
The four suspects are accused of strangling two men to death on Jan. 9. Police say the suspects also tried to dismember the bodies of the two 22-year-old victims, Terrance Rankins and Eric Glover.
The suspects range in age from 18 to 24, two women and two men, including the son of a Joliet police sergeant. The suspects continued to party after the two men were killed, and three of the suspects were found playing video games at the home where it happened when police arrived at the home on the afternoon of Jan. 10. The bodies were face-down, with plastic bags on their heads. The police chief told Patch this was "one of the most brutal, heinous, really upsetting things" he's seen in his career.
Police reports show the suspects have offered conflicting stories, sometimes changing their own stories, at one point claiming one of the murder victims had tried to rape one of the suspects, but later admitting to robbing the two murder victims.
Perhaps the most disturbing detail in police reports is that two of the suspects confessed to having sex on the dead bodies. Patch writes:
Joshua Miner remembered his teenage girlfriend confiding “years back that she wanted to have sex with a dead guy,” states a police report documenting last month’s double murder on Hickory Street. That's why Miner got the idea to ask girlfriend Alisa Massaro to have sex with him on the corpses of two men he's accused of helping to kill, police said.
Massaro “made a smirk on her face” and said she didn’t want to, according to the reports, but when being questioned by police, she “later acknowledged she and Josh did have sexual intercourse on top of the bodies.”
Other interviews show a third suspect, Adam Landerman, may have joined in the sexual activity, too. The suspects admitted to robbing the victims of "about $10 and “small baggies of weed” off Rankins" and "around $100 and cocaine in a front pocket of Glover’s pants."
