Last-Minute Plans: 13th Annual Chicago Polar Plunge

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Mar 2, 2013 8:00PM

The month of February was a nice course correction for what had before then had been another warmer than normal winter. While we aren't saying the folks from the Lakeview Polar Bear Club who took a dip in Oak Street Beach in January had it easy when they jumped into Lake Michigan, the weather wasn't what it's expected to be when the 13th Annual Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Chicago gets underway 9:30 a.m. March 3.

Last year more than 2,000 people stripped to their bare essentials and stepped into the lake at North Avenue Beach to raise money for Special Olympics. there's still time to register for the plunge. Special Olympics is hoping to raise $1 million this year and they're currently at just over $626,000. So register here, if you're brave, and we encourage our Flickr pool contributors to capture the latest profiles in shrinkage for posterity
