IN PICTURES: The 2013 South Side Irish Parade

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Mar 11, 2013 7:00PM

An estimated 150,000 people attended the South Side Irish Parade Sunday, which is another testament to the work of the parade's committee, Ald. Matt O'Shea and local residents to keep the Chi-Rish away. (They were representing up north already.)

Chicagoist Photos Flickr pool contributor Ken Gilbertsen was at the parade and once again shared some beautiful shots from South Western Avenue. In the photo that closes the gallery, Gilbertsen even shows how one of the symbols of the excess of parades past has reformed his image with the toned down march through Beverly. Gilbertsen's full set of 60 South Side Irish Parade photos can be viewed here.
