Ash Set To Ignite Lincoln Hall

By Tankboy in Arts & Entertainment on Mar 15, 2013 7:20PM

Ash never really caught on in the U.S., which is frustrating given the band's solid output over the years. The band specializes in an aggressive strain of Britpop, closer to early pop-punk like The Buzzcocks than to the more arch groups in the genre. Singer and guitarist Tim Wheeler's been leading the group since for over twenty years, which is somewhat shocking when you consider just how little the group's sound has changed. The band is making a few rare Stateside appearances and one of those is on Sunday, March 17, at Lincoln Hall.

The band's most recent release, The A-Z Series, is a compilation of singles the band released between 2009 and 2010. You can get a sample of what the band sounds like now below, and we then urge you not to miss the rare chance to see them in Chicago this weekend.

Ash plays March 17 at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N Lincoln, 8 p.m., $20, 21+

Heck, if you dig the above, go ahead and download the lead track from the compilation below!
