Beer Bracket Madness: Vote For The Elite Eight

By Anthony Todd in Food on Mar 15, 2013 3:00PM

When you're cutting half of the beers out every time, the bracket gets small pretty quickly. After thousands of votes were cast in our sweet sixteen round, we have the results — the final eight beers that will continue into the next round.

Most of the results from the Sweet Sixteen were pretty close, though a few big winners in round one got trounced in round two. Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald got pummeled by Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, and Baderbrau Pilsner got taken to the cleaners by Pipeworks Ninja vs. Unicorn. Some of the races were almost too close to call. Three Floyds Dreadnaught beat out Bell's Two Hearted by less than two percentage points and Founder's Red Rye just barely edged out Goose Island's Juliet.

The bracket below holds a couple of very tough choices. Local favorites (and huge vote-getters) Half Acre Daisy Cutter and 3 Floyds Dreadnaught are up against each other, as are Goose Island Matilda and Two Brothers Domain DuPage. Three Floyds and Goose Island each have two beers left in the bracket. Will one of them win? It's up to you.

The remaining beers represent some of the best beers and breweries in the midwest, and the choices are definitely getting tougher. If you've been waiting to vote because you didn't know enough about all 32 original beers, this is your chance. Now the bracket is narrow enough that you can easily drink all the beers before voting closes on Monday at noon.
