In a sports winter defined by streaks none have been as captivating as the Miami Heat's 27-game winning streak, the second-longest streak for a professional sports franchise in North American history. That streak came to a crashing halt at the United Center Wednesday night courtesy of a short-handed Bulls squad that always seems inspired to face the Heat. The Bulls stormed to a 10-point first quarter lead and kept Miami out of its transition game the rest of the way to pull out the win. Luol Deng led the Bulls with 28 points and seven rebounds and Carlos Boozer had one of his "good" double doubles with 21 points and 17 boards. Jimmy Butler, starting in place of Rip Hamilton, played Dwyane Wade to a standstill with 17 points to Wade's 18. LeBron James led all scorers with 32 points but complained about the officiating after the game. James was so frustrated by the Bulls he lowered a shoulder into Boozer and was assessed his first flagrant foul in six years.
The Bulls played Miami tight on defense, didn't allow them to get out in transition and moved the ball around. They held a 27-15 edge in assists and out-rebounded the Heat 43-31.
