Reconstruction of the Wells Street bridge resumes 10 p.m. Friday, April 26 and ends in time for the May 6 morning rush. The shutdown will allow the city Department of Transportation to complete the replacement of a leaf on the bascule bridge, while CTA will replace track on the bridge and rebuild the track junction at Lake and Wells known as Tower 18, and at the curves north or the Merchandise Mart at Hubbard and Kinzie Streets.

As with the first shutdown last month, this will affect Brown and Purple Line riders the most. Purple Line riders, especially, should start planning for delays as the route will only run local between Howard Street in Chicago and Linden in Wilmette. And please keep your cameras at the ready and tag any photos of the reconstruction progress for use in our Flickr pool. They make for amazing galleries.
