Twin Peaks plays City Winery with Deer Tick tonight.
This week, local dreampop act Twin Peaks teamed up with Deer Tick to play a few shows in St. Louis and Chicago. The two acts performed at City Winery last night, but if you missed that show, don’t sweat it—they’re returning to the West Loop venue for another show tonight.

We’re a fan of Deer Tick’s roots/rock music, but the real reason we’re heading there tonight is Twin Peaks. These guys have a reckless energy that makes us feel young again. Now, that may have something to do with setting—we tend to catch them in basement shows where there’s always a dirty thirty and the chance someone’s going to throw up in a dark corner. But they do genuinely bring exuberance to the stage and rile things up with their catchy melodies and loose, scuzzy garage pop.

The show is a bit pricey ($20) but screw it. It’s Wednesday and this show is going to be good. The show starts at 8 p.m., and doors open at 6 p.m. in case you want to throw back a glass of wine or six directly after work. For now, listen to Twin Peaks’, “Stand in the Sand,” which will be reissued this July through Autumn Tone Records.

And our condolences to Deer Tick drummer Dennis Ryan, who is out for the night due to the passing of his uncle.

Deer Tick and Twin Peaks play tonight, Wednesday, May 8 at City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph, 8 p.m., $20, 21+
