Starbucks To Post Calorie Counts On Menus Nationwide

2013_6_18_Starbucks.gif In case you haven't heard, all fast food things have more calories than you think they do. All of them. And we're really bad at judging them. Remember, a McDonald's crispy chicken salad has more calories than a Big Mac. That's why posting calorie counts on menu boards is controversial. Well, hold on to your frappucinos, since Starbucks has decided to get out in front of new regulations by posting calorie counts nationwide.

The Associated Press reports that starting next week, all of the calorie counts for all Starbucks menu items will be posted. Stores in many large cities had already posted calorie counts due to local regulations (Hello, NYC, LA, DC) but now the entire nation is jumping on the bandwagon.

That venti vanilla Frap you start every day with? Now you'll be reminded that it has more than 400 calories. It'll stare you in the face, making you feel guilty—and possibly encouraging you to switch to that unsweetened shaken iced tea. Our beloved pumpkin scone? 480 calories. We're definitely gonna think twice about that.
