5 Dead, 25 Wounded In Gun Violence Friday And Saturday

It's been another bloody weekend—between Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, 30 people have been shot and five of them died.

On Friday, a couple was found dead at the Sheraton Hotel at 301 E. North Water St., after an apparent murder-suicide, in which Kim Wright fatally shot James A. Wright in his face before shooting herself. Both were from Wisconsin. Also, Vincent Mayes was fatally shot at about 1:30 p.m. in the 4400 block of West Adams Street.

According to the Tribune, three men were shot and one died Saturday afternoon in the 8600 block of South Kingston Avenue. Carl Austin, 20, was shot in the back and pronounced dead at the scene. The other two men were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fair-to-serious condition. Another man is in serious condition at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston after being shot in the abdomen yesterday in Rogers Park. Four people were wounded in shootings between 3 and 3:35 a.m. this morning. Two men were shot in the 2700 block of West Harrison Street, a man in his 20s walked into Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds to his legs, and a 16-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen in Chatham. There were also shootings in Pilsen, Englewood, and Lawndale.
