UPDATE: TMZ now says Pippen was questioned about the assault, but not arrested. ABC 7's Chuck Goudie is reporting that Pippen will not be charged.

Former Chicago Bulls great Scottie Pippen turned himself into police in Malibu, Calif., on Monday and was booked on charges of felony assault with intent to commit great bodily harm. According to TMZ, Pippen was dining at Nobu Malibu when he got into an argument in the parking lot with someone who is being described right now as an “autograph seeker.”

TMZ reports Pippen allegedly punched the man in the face, kicked him repeatedly and left. The man was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries to his head and back, a swollen mouth and broken teeth. Los Angeles County sheriff’s office spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Chicago Tribune Pippen has been cooperative throughout and that "we have to investigate and check with all the witnesses and find out exactly what happened.”

Pippen, who was voted as one of the 50 greatest NBA players of all time, was known for his defensive abilities and playing the main supporting role to Michael Jordan on the Bulls’ six championship teams. He now serves as a special adviser to Bulls’ President and CEO Michael Reinsdorf. The Bulls declined to comment.
